Papa Doc was stoked to get Zane and Gianna in the surf boat together to show us how it is done and we had a nice row in the Townsville marina. It has been a few years since Zane had a hit out in the surf boat but it felt great and the back and knee held up no worries.
The camper is now wired with lights and fans! A few very busy days catching up with friends and making progress on modifications to the camper. Doc and Zane built a box to house the switchboard and plugs for some LED strip lights and 2 small fans and Uncle Nicko fine tuned the setup. Thanks family.
Then we built a ply box for the babyQ and accessories to live in.
FRIENDS!!!
We had many wonderful friends drop over and say hi and Stella has been overwhelmed with so many new friends! We had an early Christmas at Alva Beach with family and Stella just worships her two big cousins Ruby and Sienna. It's always great to see how excited the kids get when it comes to opening presents! Thanks for all the thoughtful presents, Stella now has lots of cool things to keep her busy on the long road trips. She even said "Senna" before we left Home Hill!
Burdekin Catholic High School
We also dropped in to see Zane's former boss, Principal Tom K and fortunately (for us) a lot of the staff were still working! We got to introduce Stella to the lovely admin ladies and some of Zanes old work colleagues. Steve K took us on a tour and the school has really been modernised. New admin building, Brother Brian Senior School block, Dr Glover learning centre and the Zane Dockray Gym...jokes. Thanks for the tour Steve and well done Tom and all the staff the school looks amazing. We would love to call in Term 2 and do some relief work as we will no doubt be out of funds from the trip!
Home Hill - last chance to fine tune the camper
Our last port of call before actually camping out of the trailer was in Home Hill to say goodbye to Ben, Sah, Sienna, Ruby and Miss Molly. We had one last practice run of setting the tarp and camper up under the watchful eye of Rodney who did well to resist assistance and advice. This is what its like in the van parks - the nomads love to watch people set up. Finally with Rod's blessing and off loading some gear to Ben and Sah we said our goodbyes and set the alarm for 4am. Next stop Mackay and Clairview.
