Our first tourist destination in the Hunter Valley was Polkobin Village. A cute collection of gift shops, cafés, cellar doors, brewery, and also Polkobin Village Pharmacy.
We did the obligatory wine tastings at Tyrrells, Mcguigan's, and Tempest Two, as well as cheese tasting. Yum! We returned to Tyrrells the following day for a wine tour and realised that the Shiraz grapes Stella had pulled off the vine & eaten the day before were 168 year old vines that sell for a fortune. Oops! We also went to the Hunter Valley gardens which were absolutely magnificent.
We set up camp at the Cessnock showgrounds. The showgrounds also doubled as the racetrack for horses and greyhounds and so every morning and afternoon Stella could watch horses run the track. They also held the monthly bird and poultry auction at the showgrounds so that was pretty cool to observe the birds and bidding as well!
