We arrived in Forster on Thursday Jan 22nd. Our mate Hayden said we could camp at his uncles place in Tuncurry- no worries. His Uncle has just retired from teaching and goes fishing every day. You just know Zane and Bobby will have a lot to talk about! There is something truly awesome and refreshing when you meet new people who are just really nice and welcoming. We first met their youngest daughter (out of 4 girls). Bridget is a fashion designer, artist and vegetarian. She is also beautiful and unbelievably humble. Very inspiring! Bobby & Angie are lovely. They have an amazing garden. Fruit, veggies & herbs growing everywhere. The fruit orchard has apples, pears, blueberries, figs, passionfruit, a grape vine. There was even a macadamia tree. Not to mention the chooks! We love the idea of sustainability & growing your own produce.
We went to some lookouts & beaches (Cape Hawke lookout, Cellito beach). Saw dolphins everyday in the lake, mouth and beaches. We also went to the honeycomb farm in Nabiac where we ate honey, looked through the gardens & Stella fed goats, alpacas, cows & cuddled some chickens.
Bobby took us out on his boat into the bay. We checked the crab pots but no luck. Someone had already checked them for us :( It was cool seeing all the oyster farms. The water is so clean & the sand so soft! We also had home made pizzas & oysters kilpatrick in the wood-fired pizza oven. Thanks guys!
Zane went for a dive with Caine and young Harry to check out the diving in the lake. Harry speared a nice whiting, bream and a few blackfish. This time when we checked the pots there were a number of blue swimmers and a big mud crab.
We stayed 5 nights in Forster and just as we were thinking we never wanted to leave, it began to rain. So we packed up & headed ( not too far) to Seal Rocks, a campsite at Treachery beach. We loved it here but it was overcast & drizzling still. We went to the iconic lighthouse, had a bike ride, and not much else. After 2 days we packed up. Then we felt a little sad as we drove away and the sun came out.
If you are travelling north NSW ensure you include Tuncurry, Forster and Seal Rocks in your travels.
