Tokyo Disneyland here we come! We boarded the shuttle bus from the hotel at 730am direct to Tokyo Disneyland. We were a little unsure what to expect but it was amazing day! Stella went on Pooh's Hunny Hunt, boarded Donald Ducks boat and explored Minnie Mouse's House. Stella's favourite ride was the roller coaster. She was a bit scared at first but loved it so much she demanded to go again! Stella was excited to see Cinderella's Hall and try on her glass slipper. There were so many great rides and we finished the night by watching an amazing electric light parade featuring some of Stella's favourite Disney characters.
The next day we went to Tokyo Disney Sea and Stella met Princess Ariel, Stitch, Woody and heaps of other characters. Stella loved Mermaid Lagoon the best and the best rides was Toy Story Mania. We went under the sea in a submarine and ate lots of Disney Ice creams, churros and popcorn. Sushi-Zipang we're going to Japan! Stella was very excited for her big overseas trip. We met Chaunnie and Dan at the Cairns airport and excitement was high. We had a great flight with movies and games and Lego. We caught trains from the airport to Tokyo and then into our very cosy apartment in Otsuka! Thankfully Stella had passed out by the time we all had our first meal at 11pm! The next day we went shopping around Tokyo and ate amazing sushi with sake. We decided to book a karaoke booth and Stella sang twinkle twinkle before putting her earphones on and passing out. The girls went home and the boys found a cozy little shot bar...
The next day was rainy and we trooped around Tokyo in the wet. Tokyo sky treehouse would have amazing views on a sunny day! We ate dinner at a BBQ house were we cooked our food on a grill and Stella had a big bowl of ice cream. We had an early night to say goodbye as the next day we moved on to Urayasu. What a mission riding the trains in peak hour!! Stella had an amazing day booked at Kidzania where kids role play real world jobs and receive money for their efforts! Stella was a pizza chef and made mum and dad a lovely pizza. Next she was a nurse at the hospital assisting in the nursery and received payment of $8! Then Stella choose to be a pastry chef and made yummy crepes. Lastly Stella wanted to be a fireman and was voted fire chief and had to assemble her troops and douse a fire to save the town. What a cool day! With her savings of $70 she went to the bank, deposited her cash and received a bank card and wallet to buy gifts from the shop. Today was another rainy day so we went shopping and got supplies and wet gear for the next part of our adventure at Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea. Stay tuned for more adventures to follow... Woohoo - end of school term means holidays!
Daddy and Stella started the school holidays with a movie date. We made popcorn and had a bag of lollies ready. "Ratatouille" was the feature film and we had a great night! Good Friday we to the beach and met up with friends from Charters Towers and ate Pizza! Easter Saturday we packed the car and headed to Port Douglas with the Moreheads to stay at QT resort. Lots of fun in the pool and then out to Chilly's for pizza and pasta. On Easter Sunday the resort put on an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Stella had a great time searching for chocolates and talking to the Easter Bunny. Monday we jumped back in the car for a road trip to Townsville to see the Dockray family and say hello to Auntie Sahra and Uncle Ben's new little girl Evie! Stella also loved hanging out with cousins Sienna and Ruby in the pool, at The Strand and waterpark. Awesome week, love the holidays! Janelle had a week off work so we decided to get away on a little "staycation" and visit some of the local tourist spots. We had a swim at Lake Eacham, chocolate and cheese at Gallo, checked out Youngaburra and had a smashing chicken parmy at the pub. Uncle Noel and Auntie Nyleve had us around for an afternoon dinner party with Nonno and Grandad, Uncle Tuppi and Auntie Jodie and cuz Tianna. We picked and ate lychees, fed the sheep, chooks, barramundi and said hello to the mini ponies!
We hit Coffeeworks and then picked up our chickens from our Tableland friends Simone and Mal. They had handpicked some chicks for us to raise back in Cairns. Thanks guys looking forward to the challenge! The next day we caught the ferry over to Green Island for the day. Stella had a fun time swimming and diving on the reef, she is going to be a great freediver! We did the glass bottom boat and fed schools of fish. We went into the crocodile enclosure for feeding time and Stella got a big fright went the first croc lunged at the chook bait and slammed into the cage beside her! We finished the day off with a swim in the pool and a nice boat ride back to the mainland. Very lucky to live in such an awesome pocket of the world! Christmas time at Papa Doc and Nanny's in Townsville was always going to be an exciting event. Stella would be able to party with her 2 big cousins - summer time in the pool! Everyone was up early and the girls were very keen to open some presents. We spent some time in the pool and had a big watert fight with the girls new water pistols. Late lunch was amazing and then a well deserved siesta in the afternoon. Love eating Christmas baked ham for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Stella and Daddy set off for an early trip to check out Daintree National Park. It was a rainy morning driving through Mossman but we were in good spirits and Stella was singing "Santa Claus is coming, TO TOWN". We made it across the Daintree River on the Ferry and stopped in at a few attractions. We had a swim at the Mason Cafe swimming hole and fed the fish and turtles. We walked along the boardwalk through the mangroves and finished up at Cape Tribulation beach for a play and a walk to the lookout. On the way home we stopped into the Ellis Beach Bar and Grill for lunch. Stella had her first Bubble O' Bill. Daddy explained the nose was bubble gum and needed to be chewed, no swallowing the gum. Stella replied "I like Bubble bum" and after a few minutes of chewing swallowed the lot!
Good times. I think we should go back for a few days in the New Year. Thanks Auntie Bebe for getting us free tickets on the Cairns Central Movie night and Santa Train!. Stella, Fletcher and Zane all met the train at Freshwater station and were very excited to meet Santa and catch the train. Stella went straight up to Santa and said hello and Fletcher gave him a high five! Several high fives later and we boarded the train where the kids took turns talking to Santa and asking him questions. Fletcher's first question was "Santa, where's your home?"
Santa asked what the kids would like for Christmas and Stella replied "lollies" and Fletcher said "a jumping castle and a slippery slide for Cooper." It was a fun ride into Centrals and Stella and Fletch eagerly followed Santa into the cinema for photos. Stella went straight for front and centre on Santa's lap but Fletch was happy to hang back. The kids collected their event bags with colouring-ins, pencils and stickers and we took our seats in the cinema. Centrals put on some food and the kids ate sangas, fruit skewers and shared a cup of jelly! We also got a box of popcorn as Stella was very adamant we needed this! The movie was "The Good Dinosaur" and the kids were pretty enthralled for the first hour. A few scary scenes had them sitting on Zane's lap but overall they loved it. But after about 80 mins Stella was wondering around the cinema looking for lollies and Fletcher was keen to go home. Overall we had a great time catching the "Dinosaur train", hanging with Santa and the kids were very well behaved. Merry Christmas everybody!! Mid-week birthday party time!
Nanny and Doc drove up from Townsville with Auntie Gab and Mick who are visiting before they fly out for their big adventure overseas! Auntie Beccy flew in from Melbourne and all of our little friends and family from Cairns came to celebrate Stella's birthday. Auntie BB provided all the kids party decor and we had amazing cupcakes for the grand finale. Stella was very excited to have her own party. Thanks everyone for making it special. We spent the week leading up to the Luau prepping food, organising equipment and collecting decorations. Brenton made a Tiki Bar Sign and hooked up the lights and sounds. Live music by Luke and the Ukettes added a distinctive Hawaiian flavour. Happy Birthday 30th Mummy!
